Arcodia Climate Research & Action Group

Arcodia Climate Research & Action Group

Research in the Arcodia Group explores climate predictability and change through cutting-edge data science, collaborative interdisciplinary approaches, and localized analyses for actionable climate solutions.

Research topics:

  • explainable and interpretable machine learning applications to climate problems

  • climate variability and predictability on subseasonal to decadal timescales

  • tropical-extratropical teleconnections

  • climate modeling

  • climate risks to communities and ecosystems

Driving questions of our research include:

  • What are sources of predictability on subseasonal to decadal timescales that provide forecasts of opportunity?

  • Will forecasts of opportunity, particularly for extreme events, change with a changing climate?

  • How can we leverage machine learning and data science tools to both enhance predictive capability and reveal fundamental physical processes driving variability and extremes in the Earth system?

  • How can advances in subseasonal-to-decadal predictability be translated into actionable, region-specific strategies that enhance the sustainability and resilience of vulnerable communities and ecosystems?
